New Lightweight Meilenstein PRO
Moderator: robbosmans
I've read a documents from the eurobike show on novolties that will presented.
Lightweight will introduce a new saddle made togetjer with Selle Italia.
But the other thing from Lightweight is that they will present a Meilentein PRO
"a new benchmark for alps races, criteriums and real road
racing"

Yeah, for the people selling them.tinozee wrote:"Makes dreams become true".
This doesn't say anything about how it differs from the non-Pro version (other than presumably costing more).http://www.eurobike-show.com/eb-wAssets/daten/neuheiten/pdf/EB15_novelties_images.pdf wrote:Lightweight MEILENSTEIN PRO
With the new MEILENSTEIN PRO we developed a new
benchmark for alps races, criteriums and real road
racing. And for sure for all athletes that want to reach
their personal goals and make their dreams become
true. Handcrafted in Germany for highest demands -
engineered in Germany for top power transmission
and best over all performance.
Yeah I guess it will be about the rim shape.

Seems like that. An updated rim profile as well? Keep in mind that 27mm gipfelsturm has already a U profile while 47,5mm meilenstein has still a V profile. We 'll see...

Hmm, the bikeradar article doesn't say anything about a different rim shape.
Is there a reason the new generation spokes are not used on the rear? Will they be used in new versions of existing models, such as Obermayer and Gipfelsturm?

New rim shape was only our guesses as the old v-shaped rim design was replaced for the 80 mm wheelset and the 60 mm front wheel they offer now. But I guess Lightweights are selling well since they are sticking with the 20 year old rim design for at least another year...

HI there AK ... if only business worked like that! I suspect their share of the carbon wheel market is in freefall - certainly looks to be from what I see (hundreds of guys on carbon wheels every week), and the competition is much stiffer (pardon the pun) than it was 5 or 10 years ago.
A new rim shape will help them a lot. It has just taken them a while to do it. They then need to address their pricing (as Zipp have just done, interestingly)
LW may well be happy staying small, though even if happy small, niche and ultra high-end, when you're up against Boras at £1k it's a market likely to put pressure on sales at some point (btw, Fulcrums with the new shape rim will heap more pressure on other manufacturers).
