They do make a lot of sense if you have multiple bikes and you change often (like a travel bike or so).
In my case I agree with mike that the weight penality is too high (P1 vs light pedals) compared to, for example, a crank based powermeter.
Just for the nerd inside of me; does the rotating mass (weight?) in pedals matters a lot when cycling?

I would appreciate some feedback.....I recently switched from using Shimano pedals for 30 years to the P1's. On about my third ride I endo'd in at the start of an uphill sprint when one of my feet released from the pedal on the upstroke at about 700 watts (total). I was using the P1 red cleats. I have never had an unexpected release, ever....
Am I the only one with such an experience? It is pretty unnerving
