sisl and pf30 BB compatability
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi All
After having just the bearings replaced badly in my Super Six Evo SRAM pf30 BB I was advised to go for a Wheels mfg unit and this was fitted yesterday. The seals that came with the BB are not compatible with the Si cranks, the wave washer completely compressing when torqued up. Cannondale seals allow use but leave a gap between seals and bearings.
Does anyone have experience of replacing the BB with these cranks? What's the best BB?

Essentially pressfit BB's are bearings (of the same diameter and width) pressed into frame + bearing shields + spacers/washers.
If your previous bearings went toast, replace those and reuse the previous seal + spacer setup.

I have SISL2 crank fitted on my Guru ... Wheels mfg unit,,,the top of the range ceramic bearings, angled etc etc .
Bike is still being built up but there was no issues with fitting the crank etc. I got my friend Tony to fit the crank ,he has many years experience and has fitted countless press fit cranks. It does not spin crazy but feels very smooth.
The Sram BB should be avoided.

I might have automatically chosen an FSA BB to use with an Si crank.
When recently using a Wheels Mfg adapter BB in a BB30 shell I noticed that the seals were rather thick, which will of course impact on function if the system involves the use of a wave washer.

With straight crank arms alignment can be critical. Check out the tech docs: https://s.yimg.com/fz/api/res/1.2/q5dFs ... =75&maxy=0
