Hello -

I have an aluminum frame that I want to build up (slowly, I'm patient with this one) and one hiccup I'm running into is getting a proper fork to match it.
The headtube has an O.D. of 50mm and is designed for the semi-integrated style headset. The fork I *wanted* to use has a crown diameter of 45mm, which leaves things less than aesthetically pleasing: I don't like to see a fork thinner than the headtube it is going into. The headtube is not designed for a tapered fork, however - just a straight, traditional 28.6mm (1-1/8")

So are there any forks out there with a diameter of 50mm at the crown?
I remember when 'internal' headsets were virtually everywhere, many forks had large crown diameters to match... now standards have changed and I'm not seeing those forks anymore. Did Look make forks with large crown diameters? What about Giant? Or Fuji?

The only thing that I could find is one (literally, just one) of the 'open mold' style forks from one mfg that has a traditional steerer and a large crown diameter of 50mm. There is no indication of weight and I am wary about what I'll be actually getting because a very similar looking design is also out there with a diameter of 45mm... and the "model number" seems to be inconsistent.

Any help?

Thanks.

Those are nice, but the price is quite high for this project.

So far I've found, aside from the generic, BMC's 048 Straight ... which is no longer in production. :(

Columbus makes a number of them.

Passoni uses them on their bikes which have integrated Head tubes

If you don't mind the extra axle-to-crown distance, (old)Scott Addict forks could be an option.

I looked at the Columbus catalogue, all of their forks in 1-1/8" steerer have a 45mm diameter crown, unless there is one I didn't see?

The Scott Addict fork is a good idea, I'll be on the lookout!

If someone reads this and is able to - can someone verify the crown diameter on a Scott Addict fork? Is it 40mm or 50mm?
I'm getting conflicting search results.

Thanks!

This is my Addict fork (1-1/8") equipped on a frame with tapered headtube(56mm OD).
The fork crown's diameter is 50mm.
