Hello,

I'm headed into the mountains for a couple weeks and was thinking about taking advantage of the fact that the new 2015 Campy cranks can evidently switch rings - compact, mid-compact, traditional. I'm currently all dialed in on a mid-compact and was wondering if switching out to compact rings would be as simple as switching out the rings, easy as that, or do I need to adjust the front deraileur and possibly take out some chain links? Advice is very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Campy rings are proprietary, very hard to find, and very expensive if you do. Campy does not encourage user change of rings preferring it be done at a service centre.

Probably cheaper to buy a new crankset. (hint, 10-speed work just fine on 11-speed systems).

Adjust FD? Yes. Take out link? Not unless the chain is way too long already.

Your improvement in low gear is only going to be from a 36T to a 34T.

You should be on a 29T biggest sprocket. Are you?
There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?

One.

So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

I changed out my compact 50/34 to 52/34. Yes, I know Campy says 52/34 is a no-no but front shifting performance is identical to 50/34. New ring bolts are included and the swap is a no-brainer. Raising fr der slightly was only necessary adjustment.

Not hard to find. Not that expensive.

I change mine around from time to time.
