Hi,
Proud owner of an SR EPS set on my dogma F8
Only thing is that my gear change from 4th to 5th gear (counting biggest is 1) is not working... keeps rattling.
Under pressure for sure and with very light pressure sometimes it does flip after some time...
All other gears (even under pressure) work fine.
Absolutely no problem with gearing up.... only this 1 gear down....
Solution is now to change 2 gears down and then 1 up...
Somebody has the same?
Solutions, tips, tricks???

I can think of two things
1- Derailleur adjustment could be off a little (this happened to me.)
IMHO, Campy is a little more finicky than Shimano when it comes to the rear derailleur adjustment. During the initial adjustment you have to get the cogs aligned with the pulley nearly perfectly. After the initial adjustment, you may want to manually adjust the derailleur to get the perfect shifting.
2- There is something wrong with your cogs (less likely but you'd never know.)

adjusting increaments in Campagnolo are ( in comparison to Sram/ Shimano ) really , I mean REALLY small. try tiny screw in barrel adj. screw - 1/32 - 1/16 max.
2nd thing is cassette compression by locknut - check it's not to tight/loose.

Sounds to me like the pulley cage needs an adjustment. What frame is the group installed on? Put the bike into the lowest gear (small chainring - largest cassette cog) and adjust the pulley cage until it rubs then back it off enough that the noise goes away. Also make sure the chain is not cut too short. If the bike is in the small chainring and smallest cassette cog the cage should almost rub on the pulley cage. If the gap is larger than 15mm IIRC you will have that mid cassette shifting issue due to inadequate chain wrap.

Cassette is just fine...
Chain length seems also ok.
Zero settings as well...
So I did some micro adjustments... wow you can hardly see the movement of 1 click.... after some tests I now have it on a setting where it seems to fit well... also under some pressure. Proof of the pudding is in real biking this afternoon.
System is very sensitive... 1 click (must be 0.1mm or something like that) is the difference between ok and not ok gear switches... wow

Hi, sorry, but what is the derailleur hanger alignment?

Under zero settings, one click is equivalent to 0.01mm or 10 micron.
I'll check the RD hanger alignment as well.
Let us know how it goes.

Seems all works fine... just did a 106 km ride and no issues!
So it was a micro adjustment issue / solution
Thx 4 all tips & tricks

Dowks wrote:I would check derailleur hanger alignment, I had similar issues to you. Got the tool and adjusted the hanger and the system is perfect. I think as said above the 11 speed EPS is very sensitive to alignment
11s EPS has the same tolerance in this regard as mechanical and Shimano, SRAM etc - no need to over-mystify.
Basically the hanger alignment is amongst the 1st things that should be checked - in any bike build or when trouble-shooting, never assume anything.
In many cases I come across, there is something pretty fundamental wrong that is causing the rider an issue, that really, really should have been checked right at the start ...
Example - if, say, the rear triangle alignment is off, you can spend as long as you like with other adjustments, you'll never get the gear adjustment "just so" ... So, OK, on a Dogma that's probably not going to be an issue but a few mins spent checking that *might* save you hours of work downstream, not to mention some loss of riding time.
In order, my routine is to check:
Frame alignment overall.
Rear dropout alignment.
Read dropout spacing.
Chainline (offset of chanset from BB centreline).
Hanger bolts tight?
Cassette tight to cassette body (40 nm)
Cassette body float - there should only be the barest hint, if any
Wheel all the way home in the dropouts?
Wheel true?
Wheel bearings adjusted with no float?
Hanger alignment correct (wheel issues matter as you align against the wheel as a reference point)
RD threads chased out?
RD correctly torqued into hanger?
If I am working in the field, I don't usually do steps 1 and 2 unless it's post-crash on a metal frame, as they are slightly awkward to do accurately outside of a workshop environment & I'd *hope* that any issues that these problems might have caused would have been sorted before the bike came out on an event - it has happened otherwise though - admittedly rarely.
Once you have all that right, it's worth worrying about exact derailleur adjustment with EPS or Di2. There are additional things around cable routing etc I'd check were it a mechanical system.
Attention to detail and a methodical approach is the name of the game ...
