In a race with plenty of crashes so far, bad weather forecast and a wide range of bikes to choose from, what would you pick?
The same as these guys all did, the one you're most mentally comfortable with. Is it really that hard to understand? For some of these guys its the biggest race of the year and any small mental advantage helps.

Of course not, but given the marketing that came along with these new bikes it's so easy to poke fun at - is that really so hard to understand? (i kid, I kid - hopefully one of the Chris guys will chime in).

Aeroad, S5, Venge, Noah, Propel, Venge... I saw new Foils in there with greenedge too. You mean the new venge only?
Good point about the brakes. Maybe crosswinds too?

Yup, all the review sites can keep telling us the proprietary brakes are "surprisingly good" but we see what the pros choose when push comes to shove.

No. It's brakes. Not the bike.
But the frame goes with these brakes so Sagan and Cav replaced the frame not just the brakes...

A bike is not aero or non-aero - it's not black & white - there are many, many, many subtle levels of aero. However, once a new "more aero" frame comes out - the previous "less aero" frame might as well be a lugged steel bike. At least according to marketing.
