Any news on the when the German retailers will be sufficient?

Given garmin's history I'm not sure I even want one until they've been through a few firmware updates.

Agree Garmin is bloatware prone and this is no exception. But very attractive for weight weenies as its only 4 grams heavier than the edge 500 and had better display + GLONASS, but inferior battery life.

Good to see they went with alloy tabs for the mount this time.

Actually, it looks as though that is the one thing that is unchanged.

I've been looking for the text/call notification feature for a while and didn't want to buy the 1000.

Yay.

Don't honestly care for the extra Strava palava, but like some of the other gear, including the bigger screen, but smaller size than the 510.

Price is good too.

FYI, in case this helps anyone - I pre-ordered through clevertraining via DC Rainmaker's website. If you buy the $5.00 year of clever training VIP, you'll get a 10% discount code that actually works for this as well (the regular discount posted on his site doesn't apply for the 520). No idea about their anticipated stock levels or whether another site would ship first, though.

I did the Strava bundle... I need to re-up my premium account in a couple months anyways and strava recent gave me a milestone coupon.. so it was a no brainer.

Yes I wanted this function and had been contemplating Apple watch or the Edge 1000 to replace my 510. Preorderd this bad boy £199 delivered and already sold my 510 for £150, happy days to wheeling & dealing.

spoken to a few people so now im divided... the wifi availability on the Edge 1000 is a plus... read mixed reviews on the Pioneer and dont fancy spending almost £500 on an PC8... for that matter, PC7 is not that much less, around £450

Used a 520 for three days last week. As someone not on Strava, I am still impressed enough to consider flicking my 810 for one.

But, as mentioned, don't think I want to deal with the heartache of years of firmware updates to fix the problems Garmin love its customers to find for them.
