Just purchased a workswell R5 clone with the bbright bottom bracket. Just wondering if anybody would be able to list all the cranks that are compatible. As well as how the adaptors work, and best place to purchase them, in order to install shimano cranks. If there are previous threads that contain this info then feel free to point me in the right direction and then delete this thread

Sram red bb30 goes in . Has a big spacer on the drive side but you remove the adjuster from the NDS and use shims to finalise bearing fit.
GXP uses the wheels MFG adapter and works fine. Shimano uses a different wheel manufacturing adapter (skinnier axle on NDS on the sram GXP) and works fine...Rotor goes straight in.
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!
Edit: 2015: darn near won the best South Island series (got second in age
-group)..woo hoo Racy Theremery is back!!

Pretty much any crank with a spindle long enough to accommodate the 79mm BB width. You can obtain BBs that will accommodate the varying diameters of spindles or use adapters. Campy, Shimano, SRAM, FSA, THM, etc. will all fit, just select the appropriate BB. The ones you have to look out for are the True BB30 cranks like stock SRAM Red BB30 that are simply too short to fit in a wider BB. A Force BB30 will be long enough.

Anywhere that you would recommend purchasing the shimano adaptors?

Stay away from outboard cups...

I think the best solution is Campy overtorque. But I am a campy fan....

I would go with the Rotor adapter for shimano, as they have been making then the longest. However the new TorqTite Bottom Bracket might be the best but they are really really new, and looks like there may be a fit issue...

The whole issue is that both of the "fixes" bring back the weight that BBright/BB30/PFbb30 was trying to solve... and we were better off with old school bottom brackets.

Yeah you're right about that. I did actually want a bsa bottom bracket but workswells R5 clone only came with bbrigh, and there was no way I was gonna pay an extra $300 for hongfus offering. Thanks for the help. Will look into rotor

I actually didn't realise how much of a help you had been until I propely looked at the links. You have saved my build. Thanks

I am absolutely against ever using sram after nothing but terrible experiences with it, both road and mtb. I hate everything about sram

@jackwalk

If you search in the cervelo forum for bbright it will be information overload, but worth it... from what I have been able to see the only bottom bracket that really hasn't had any issue is the

http://www.bbinfinite.com

It's downside is that you need a pneumatic hammer to remove it. I think that is show stopper, but everyone has loved it.

good luck with your build... that workswell looks like a hell of a bike...
