Aluminium certainly seems to be undergoing a revival at the moment. The Eddy Merckx seems a quality bike, enough for them to provide it with a full carbon fork, and the BMC looks like a serious attempt at it too, enough to provide some serious competition to their own SLR03.
Interesting to see some artisan aluminium too, in the Mason Definition, which got a good write-up for road.cc recently:
