Well, not totally sure this was the greatest idea, but I had an extra one so why not try it. The main problem was with my approach of processes. I should have used a hole saw with the same radius as the new cradle and then cut the top off, well I cut the top off and then tried to hole saw it and that was a total pain. It was the wrong radius, close, but wrong so I had to attack it with a file to get the cradle to sit most of the way flush. Also, I bought extruded carbon rod from Rock West composites, should have bought braided or just aluminum as the extruded carbon rod split with the slightest torquing. Either way, I think I'll get some aluminum rod and give it a ride and hopefully I don't have to call my wife from the road side with a splintered carbon seatpost through my inner thighs. Oh, probably the biggest let down is the small weight savings it totaled for all the effort.

That sort of tuning doesn't give you a lot of saddle fore and aft does it?

looks like you saved 80 grams on that seat post. Not bad at all.

As said brave. But then again it's really hard to do worse than the crap post design Cervelo came with.
Instead of coming up with something better than the pre 2011 post they "improved" with a clamping system unworthy for their
framesets (creaking, slipping etc. etc.)

It is very limited on fore/aft saddle position since the seat post is double the profile length of a regular round post. I've put this much into it, I'll get an aluminum rod and try again with hopes the saddle lands where I need it. I'll keep you guys updated.

is the internal diameter of the seatpost big enough to house a short and skinny seatpost?
