I think you're right. The bead on the TL is a PITA with a clincher tire.

If you don't need tubeless.

GO CL and use veloplugs.
It would be the lightest option.

Plus, some people says that TL is hard to mount clincher tyres.
Some wheels have different rim shapes between TL and CL version. But I don't know shimano's too

On second thought, as long as you take care not to lose any of the nuts, you can roll threads on both ends of any spoke. So I guess it doesn't matter that much.

I have the TLs, great wheels but wish I had gotten the CL version as i run them 100% as clinchers.

The TL will have better resale and gives you more flexibility. Both are great wheels though.
