Broken Campagnolo 11 speed spacers
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi - Often when I take off my cassette I find one or more of the plastic spacers is broken. Others having the same problem? What am I doing wrong? I always use a torque wrench on the lockring, so it should not be an overtorquing issue.....
thanks!!
thanks!!

I cracked one of the spacers that separate the 2 titanium clusters (SR cassette), and was able to replace it. Never happened again. Which spacers have cracked on your cassette -- those that separate the individual gears?
The little plastic ones with the 2.2 on them. And it is a royal pain, because none of the LBS's around here stock much campy, let along campy bits like that. Just ordered a bunch from Germany, but would prefer to find a solution, then continuing to pay way too much for little bits of plastic!!!

You don't say which brand of hub/wheel you are using... I say this, because on some freehub bodies, (Zipp, Mavic, Tune, others?), it's possible to fit the Campag cassette onto the freehub body incorrectly. There was an interesting article about this on the Velonews site by Lennard Zinn. Usually it will lead to cracked/broken sprockets as well though.
Worth checking if you have the cassette on a non Campag brand freehub.
