I pulled my Dura Ace 9000 pulley to replace them with lighter pulleys with Ceramic bearings. I did not think about it until I was cleaning them and noticed that they are labeled Tension and Alignment. I want to mark them and really can guess which is which? I believe that Tension is the lower since it seems right, however i could be wrong.

Anybody know off hand which one is lower and upper like they use to be labeled on some in the past. Really they look the same.

Alignment should be the upper one and to verify this make sure its the one that "floats" a bit laterally. Also there are directional arrows you need to follow.

A word of caution on replacements for DA9000 derailleur pulleys. I replaced the pulleys on our road and cross bikes with Tiso Ti pulleys with ceramic bearings and found them to work pretty well but after a few months, first I had an issue in a cross race then a few months later the wife had a similar issue on the road. May have been a defect in the material but in both cases, the upper pulley cracked in half, but fortunately the derailleur hanger snapped off preventing more serious damage. In both cases the carbon cage was damaged so I opted to stop using aftermarket pulleys on DA 11-speed derailleurs as those pulleys tend to be interchangeable, and the Tiso pulleys I had mounted in the upper position had no where near the lateral play of the DA pulleys that were replaced.

Wow, MS that is not good at all. I will keep an eye on mine. I looked at what I have and noticed that there is not as much play as you noted, hopefully they do not change the sweet positive shifting.
