Yep. Same chain, new name, Shimano are just merging their mountain bike and road ranges for chains. So now the HG900 is XTR/Dura Ace, HG700 XT/Ultegra, and so on.

Ah, my apologies. I thought they were ditching the directional thing for good with the new 11 speed stuff, apparently not.
Yup. The original road ones were not directional, whereas the MTB ones were. Shimano decided to simplify things and use the MTB ones for both. They claim that the unidirectional ones shift better and are quieter. I can't tell the difference.

The only difference I notice is the frustration I experience trying to get the letters the right way up during installation.
There are no arrows on the new chain (as I'm pretty sure the old one had), but the words are only on one side. So one would assume that the words are suppose to be facing out, thus a one-way chain.
