Just wondering if anyone has had luck with using the Shimano 6770 rear derailleur with a 36t cassette. I'm upgrading a couple of bikes to 11-speed and would love to have Di2 on my CX bike. I currently have SRAM 10-speed on that bike. I thought switching the rear derailleur pulleys/cage might work. Thanks!

According to the manual, maximum sprocket size is 28 teeth.
Shimano are *very* safe with their specs, so you may get away with a 30 or 32.

36, no chance.

Ive fitted 32 6800 cassette to several bikes with mechanical 9000 RD's.

If you want big cassettes and Di2 then do what Wiggo did when he won the TDF and change out the cage or your RD.

Or run an XTR di2 rear mech. It will work now they have the proper software.

Or just run sram and you can mix and match 10 or 11 speed shifters from road to XC.

Anyone know if a Shimano 5800 GS (medium cage) would accommodate a 36? Max listed is a 32 for those.

I have a 6770 RD shifting an 11-34 XT 10s cassette. Front rings are 46/34. Works great, but I'm not sure if I could get a 36t in there.

you have to install a custom derailleur hanger , for a 36T cog

Run a GS rear derailleur and maybe a longer b-limit screw to push it out further than stock. It will work.

I've run a 32T cassette on my 9000 SS derailleur, and it works well.

Cool. So a GS mech looks like it does take a 36 with the b-screw wound in. And not even all the way.

I run a 36/50 + 11-28 on my cross/commuter. For more off-road use I was thinking a SRAM 1170 11-36 cassette would give a lower gear and simpler switching than going to 34 inner ring and 11-32 cassette.
