695' (including bag) + the weight of the Lenzye road drive pump !!!

I carry...

For "Repairs"...
2,3,4,5,6mm seperate Allen Keys
Parktool CT6 chain tool (solid and heavy)
Mini segment of extra chain, (5 links chain)
Pack of dry paper wipes

Puncture kit consits of :-
3 tubes
2 Tyre Levers
Extra 3mm Allen key (for seat post removal, thats where the pump hides!),
Lenzye pump "adapter" (prevents unscrewng the valve after inflation)
+ the pump in the seat tube.

Extras:-
Spare house keys and bike lock key (heavy duty lock is kept at favourite cafe).
Pack of 8x Nurofen pain killers (which i started carrying after I had a 45mile ride home with a broken collarbone!)
Small tub of vasolene (to seal deep cuts in event of serious blood loss)

CT6 because i dont have faith in multi-tool chain tools, and if you ever need one, you need to know its not going to snap! I've used it twice in 5 years (once for me after new chain and badly fitted shimano link pin), once to help out a fellow rider.
Extra links in case fixed chain is not long enough
Wipes to avoid getting oil/grime on by shorts/white top in the event of a dirty job.
3 Tubes because ive had double punctures on at least 2 occasions (fresh cut hedge thorns, massive pot hole covered by water), and I like to know that could happen + an extra puncture and still make it home.

Its a lot, and its heavy, but I would not feel good about leaving any of it behind!

How do you get the pump in the seat tube? Which pump?

Lenzyne Road Drive (mini)

Custom Di2 Batteries go in first (down until they hit the bottle cage bosses), then the pump drops in and sits on top of them (which conveniently stops the pump falling down right to the bottom bracket).

This makes the pump stick out the top of the seat tube by about 5 inches, but then seat post walls are thin enough to allow it to slide over the pump.

So actually the pump is in the seat-post not the seat-tube.

I've worked on it a bit.

Now got it down to 2 tubes, 2 co2, 2 levers, 2.5, 4,5 T25 allen keys, Topeak super chain tool, Topeak rescue box with patches and quick link.

I'll weigh it when chain tool arrives.

I don't think I'd succeed with the pump in seat post. I've got a Canyon - with a large steerer, I've considered hiding CO2 down there.

I'm not even going to get into why you need to carry the whole kitchen sink with you (that is your preference), but where on earth did you get the idea that you can use Vaseline to "seal deep cuts in event of serious blood loss"?

I keep it simple
Lezyne carbon pump - mounted on seat bottle cage. Pump weighs less than a canister and inflator and can be used multiple times
Arundel Uno saddle bag
1 x Conti race light tube
1 x Pack Lezyne or Park patches
2 x Michelin tyre levers
Total about 280g

On long rides I I slip a Lezyne Carbon multitool in a pocket
If I'm riding tubular I take a spare preglued tubular and Michelin tyre levers in an Arundel tubi bag
If I'm racing or in an event I use CO2 instead of a pump

Maybe I'm very lucky but:
I've never broken a chain
Never had more than one flat on a ride - probably only 3-4 a year
Never broken a cable

In the last 7 years I've only had to call the wife three times -
Slashed a tubular and didn't have a spare with me - years ago and not made the same mistake again
Fell off and broke rear dérailleur and shifters, as well as myself - 6 weeks on crutches
Had a rear wheel bearing (newly installed by LBS) fail. No multitool would have fixed this.

I like to travel light, I don't see the point of spending $$$$$ on Ti bolts, light skewers, light wheels etc etc and then weigh myself down with half a kilogram or more in a saddle bag.

Wow. I thought I'd win this contest, but I've been beaten twice already.

679g. Arundel Tubie stuffed full of necessities. The wee Soma pump goes in there also.

Been running a tool bottle lately:

- Tacx Tool Tube
- 2 CO2 (wrapped in paper towel)
- 1 Continental Race Light butyl tube
- Park glueless patch kit
- Silca Eolo III CO2 head
- KTM multitool
- Strip of old butyl tube
- 2 zip ties
That all weighs 362 grams

And there is room for my phone, cash and keys in the tool tube as well.
If I swap to tubulars I add in a can of Vittoria Pitstop and a valve core remover. (The butyl tube ususally stays along for those boneheads who ride with nothing.)

My back feels free!

I throw everything in my jersey except the spare tubular and the weight of that depends which one i'm carrying. Currently it's a GP4000.
The rest of the kit is two pedros tyre levers (one's nice for the tubular, the other is in case i have to help someone with a clincher), two 16G CO2 cartridges and the very small, but not super light inflator head that someone gave me. Anything else is ride dependant, but there's usually a bar and a banana. Oh I've also got the Lezyne V-10, which was, when i got it the lightest thing with strong tools on it. I can almost certainly do better today but it's in very good condition so i'm in no hurry.
it's actually possible to come to the conclusion even before realising it makes no sense at all
