KMC 11 speed chain on Campy drive train?
Moderator: robbosmans
I am building a new bike with Campy 11 speed, don't want to spend money on new chain tools. I have had good luck with KMC 10 speed chains on Shimano. Does their X11SL 11 speed work as good as a Campy chain? Shifting and noise are most important. I don't ride a ton of miles so life not so important.
KMC works more than fine. However you don't need C chain tool… I use PT 4 series tool and KMC missing link - it works very fine ( never had any issues with it, not on Centaur, not on Chorus )

You only need an 11-speed chain tool to close a chain (w/ linking pin). To shorten an 11-speed chain you can a simple 10-speed chain tool.
P.S. In my experience, no KMC chain is as durable and silent as Campag's own chains.
P.S. 2 Lezyne makes a decent, cheap 11 speed chain tool.

In my experience KMC 11 speed chains work every bit as good as Campag or Shimano.

I use the KMC X11SL Black DLC with new SR. My opinion is that it's just as quiet and shifts equally as well. I think your cables, housing and tuning will have a greater effect.

Have reused the same 11spd missing link 5 or 6 times on the same chain, by removing it for cleaning and refitting. As long as you are careful not to bend the side plates on removal it's all good
