Hi,
I am planning on fitting internal Di2 to my 2013 R3.
I have read it can be done fairly simply.
My question is, are the cable guides riveted to the frame before or after the frame is painted?
Ie if I drill the rivets out and remove the cable guide, will it be painted underneath.
Also, are there any other holes underneath the cable guides other than the rivet holes?

I'm the guy that posted that stuff. I've done a bunch of R3's of various years. If you drill out the cable guide rivets and remove the cable guide, its unpainted underneath. Here's a pic from a white R3, you can see the black unpainted rectangle:
Thanks ever so much em3.
I tried those, but couldn't find a clear answer. Hence my question.
Goodboyr, thank you for your time.
I have carried out this modification this evening.
I drilled off the rivet heads and then punched the rivet thru in to the frame. With the bottom bracket removed the rivet easily fell out.
I had to enlarge the holes ever so slightly, 5mm bit, to enable the connector end to fit through in to the frame.
AS rightly mentioned, unpainted beneath.
*Although I believe thay they ARE indeed painted prior to guide installation, and possibly glued also. When removing the guides, the glue takes a patch of paint off with it.
