BB30A vs Campagnolo
Moderator: robbosmans
Cannondale had (again) brilliant idea to announce new bb standard : BB30A(symmetric) … There's few ways to install on it Shimano/Rotor cranks, at least 1 way for GXP, 1 good for BB386Evo. Real problem starts at Campagnolo non-PowerTorque.
I'm "studying" possible solutions already 17th hour (!), and except machining left UT BB30 left cup there's no way to instal UT crank in BB30A bottom bracket
I didn't research yet deeply OverTorque, but seems to be even bigger mess.
Same doubts about Rotor UBB30 crank ( is it EXACTLY bb386 evo standard crank? ) .
As usually, more I know more doubts I have … so maybe someone found the way ?
Does really choice of cranks for Campa users narrowed to BB386, Rotor 3d24 and Campagnolo PowerTorque ???
Sure, Hollowgram fits. I know. But -imagine- I don't want Cannondale crank

OT will fit, you just need to change the 9mm Campy spacer for a 4mm spacer stack.
UT will fit using Wheels adapters, but you'd have to machine 5mm off the shoulder of NDS one so it sits that much further into the frame.

First UT : how you see milling 5mills of shoulders of WheelsMfg adapter ? Just don't see it ( not enough material )
2nd is much more interesting have to make my research is it has been done by anyone ? still works ?
This Athena is NOT overT … it's Pshopped…
Athena (triple) is regular PT with BB30A cups ( yes, Campy did that for Cannondale )

The Wheels adapter just needs to have 5mm taken off the "outside", in other words the tapered part. How hard could that be?
And as for OT it's almost a straight fit with a spacer change on the NDS.

And if you cut off "outside" of adapter , then bearings will go further/ deeper ? still can't see it. Guy who milled BB30 cup (nds) , milled cup INSIDE as well- that's point of "conversion" - here I do not see enough od material to do it.
Even had to machine bit more, so make a room for spacer , cause weavy waher had'nt enough support.
OverTorque : do you have some image of installed OT crank on BB30A ?
Spending 800€ for something " it should work" will be ridiculous… ( crank, bb, tools ).

Fitting OT is just common sense surely - it's a BB386 EVO system.
For UT if you lose the Campy bearing, and modify the adapter, you still have the BB30 bearing on the NDS

Overtorque has spacers between the arms and bearings. For bb30a, use a 5mm shorter spacer on the left side. It really is that simple.
Theoretically : Yes. But as previously : 1 image saying someone did it successfully ?
I have othe rbrilliant ( at least in theory ) ideas for UT f.e. - but until I'll test it in real life , I don't know how it work.

What is the current status of the Campagnolo UT and BB30A compatibility? Are there any new experiences of fitting them together?
I noticed that at least bbinfinite has a product that is supposed to make them fit.

Seems that there is another product for marrying BB30A and Campagnolo UT: Wishbone makes a special bottom bracket BB30A25C.

The product looks good.
Googled frantically, but did not find any stores selling Wishbone products: any ideas for a seller?
