Ceramic speed used to make affordable high end product

Then cycling took off

Essentially same product now is about 3x times the price it was 10 years ago

Titanium huh? Would those eventually wear down?

I know what I should be printing then, I can do carbon or TI and it wouldn't cost any where near that much.

CS product tests consistently as among the best, though there is a bit of a WW myth they are miles better than all other brands

They aren't. They are in the mix with the best

And more expensive

Printed Ti does seem to lead to hideously expensive product, see the first iteration of the Fabric ALM. Perhaps it's on the wait and see list.

Not sure they are really for sale, I think i read that they were only making a few pairs.

I think that it's very cool that they are trying a new way to build a product. They have try new things to get better at making things. : )

How come companies such as Raceway can 3D print Ti products such as chain catchers, but when CS does it it is this expensive... Hmm. I understand this isn't a 'off the shelf' product, looks like they are taking a Mclaren+Specialized approach to marketing.

I suspect they did about a months work on it 4 years ago and completely finished the design and testing, then realised it would actually cost near enough $1000 a pair to make.

4 years later the cost of printing in ti has come down sufficiently that you can knock em out at $30-50 a piece and still sell them to suckers at $1000 a pair.
TBH with the number of places offering this sort of service, I reckon it'll only be a matter of weeks before you can get 3D printed copies/fakes from China. And months before one of the more legit businesses is making similar things at 20% of the RRP.

I'm wondering how it compares to CNCd Ti and forged Aluminium. Also, does anyone forge Ti in the bike world?
