I just weighed the standard ones and they are 12g each. I think the weight saving would be just under 17g :? But they will look very cool... I'll let you know how I get on :wink:

I just removed the rubber covers on my Record bar-ends.

I used a heat gun to warm the rubber and the glue, then simply pulled the rubber off.

The glue is very hard to remove from the shifters. Again I used the heat gun to try and melt the glue.

The mechanism for the downtube and bar-end shifters is the same.

If you took part of the mounting hardware that fits into the bar itself and only used half of what is there then you would save even more weight. I think that I sold my 9 speed bar end shifters as I would have played around with them to sort some things out. I guess I will just have to take apart my 10 speed ones this weekend.

It looks like the logo is formed by the forging die. Just goes to show that Campagnolo have not replaced this die since they finished making downtube shifters!
