Last week we managed to get an advance set of 4.5 clinchers from Enve. This is the rim we've been waiting for as it really seems to be the ideal do-it-all depth.

Came in at a respectable 469 grams and 489 grams front and rear. Only about 40 grams heavier than 3.4 clinchers and 100 grams lighter than the 6.7 set. 4.5 is a bit deceptive because the actual depth is 48mm and 56mm.

Also they're a new refined shape not just a deeper version of the 3.4 Widths are up to 27mm and 25.5mm.

As for the 4.5 name, that just means they left space in the line-up for a 5.6: 3.4, 4.5, 5.6, 6.7.

Our first production tubulars are here and came in at 372 and 409 grams. Roughly the same as 3.4 tubulars which are 377/398 grams.

Do we know if the brake surface is the same as the 3.4 or 6.7? Is the construction method the same too? (i.e. are these essentially the same as the older wheels except for the shape?)

Many thanks :beerchug:

That's pretty awesome that there's almost no weight penalty.

Should we now be expecting a next generation 3.4 tubular which is lighter than the current 3.4 tubular?

Great wheels I imagine but prohibitive pricing in Europe.

More than a Firecrest but less than Firestrike, on a par with Bora Ultra. Expensive for sure, but not completely out of sync with the market.

I'm very tempted by these if I can't find a scorching deal on some 404 FC's.

You do realise in Italy they're €1000-€1200 more than Bora Ultra, right? I imagine they'll go up in price with the weak Euro soon as well.
