Looking to get a clincher disc wheel for my Parlee. Was actually hoping for one of the wider Zipp options, but they're just too wide to fit my Parlee TT. So been looking at the FFWD FCC disc, but it's kinda heavy. What other options are there?

cheapest options would probably be a flo disc or a renn 555 disc. next would be a HED Jet disc. with alu braking surfaces. the renn does alright, listed 1110 grams. flo and jet are 1200+g.

if you have to go all carbon, theres the shimano PRO carbon disc, but it's porky, at 1300+g , and probably expensive. then theres the reynolds element disc, which isn't that heavy, but will probably cost too.

personally, unless you do 5+ TT/ triathlon a year, a super expensive and light disc wheel probably isn't worth it. you'd be more than happy with a cheap renn or flo. wouldn't worry about the weight too much. if I was concerned with weight I'd go tubular with the PRO textreme disc or autobahn disc.

I have a Flo disc. They are good for the money, but even in the clydesdale build, they aren't that stiff. I flex mine quite a lot, I can see the marks where it has rubbed on the frame unlike my 60mm carbon tubs.

Reynolds Element comes in full carbon clincher. Been thinking about picking one up. It's an actual full carbon disk, not a spoked wheel with a fairing.

What's yonks? I don't see it anywhere on Corima's website.

Can I ask what frame you are using? Also, what type of brake is on the frame and where is your brake located on the frame? A lot of times the wheel isn't the cause of frame rub. Our clydesdale build wheels are built with 28 spokes and 3 cross lacing on both sides which is a really stiff build. This build is often stiffer than the frame... which causes the frame to flex and then you get brake rub.

Here's an article explaining what I'm talking about.

http://www.slowtwitch.com/Tech/Debunking_Wheel_Stiffness_3449.html

Does that make sense?

Edit: One more questions. What is the build spec on your carbon tubs? Rim, spokes (number of and lacing pattern both drive and non drive side), and hubs.

Cheapest and lightest option is likely to be an Aerojacket disc cover for your existing rear wheel.

Thanks for the response. The frame is a Planet X Stealth, which I know isn't stiff, but I also tried it in my Scott CR1. Both have reasonably tight clearance for a rim as wide as yours though. I was wondering about it after reading that Slowtwitch article a while ago though. I am a big guy though, 90kg and a sprinter, and it's only rubbing when I'm really mashing the pedals.

The carbon tubs are William System 58's from a couple of years ago. I'm not home to check the exact details at the moment though.
