My old Giro helmet is falling apart, so I'm left with only the trusty Kask K50, so there is room for a second one.

Two models that look great for a decent price are the Kask Rapido and the Giro Foray. Both are brands I have liked previously as well. The Giro in particular looks very modern and smooth.

Any insights on those or similar offerings?

Nice modern helmets in a good range of colours, those. I've just ordered an Endura Airshell following an enthusiastic review in Cycling Plus magazine. If money were no object I'd have liked a POC Octal but, guess what, money is an object. Whatever that means. You know what I mean.

I personally think ,that like many other products related to cycling, helmets are very, very overprized. The last helmets (all Giro) I have bought and paid a huge amount of money for were all made in China.
A friend has bought a chinese Giro Aegeon and it has the same weight and same! RocLoc system as mine for 49USD.
Now I hear a lot of people saying that these are not according to US and EU safety standarts. But he had the same safety sticker within his helmet.
I know exactly where you can buy Giro's (and a lot of other brands)cheap but am not supposed to give the link.
I for my part will try one of those as my next helmet.
Remember everybody was warning us not to buy Chinese wheels a few years ago ?

Please no PM's. I will not share the link or shop or website .

I was going to say Lazer O2 as well. I like the versatility and price. Heavy though.

I would say Giro Atmos, not totally budget, but can be found cheap every now and then. Best looking helmet ever in my opinion.
Happy trails !!!!!

We have some Giro Foray in the shop and I really like the look of them. Pretty low profile around the head and roc loc adjustment. MSRP is only $65.

Kask Mojitos can be found at reasonable prices too.

+1 for Giro Atmos but you really need to try on different helmets to see what fits.

Rudy Projects have been very much reasonable when they offer 40% off all orders.... Check the net for coupons and then try applying it to their US site.... My Windmax and Airstorm are great fits but they sit a bit shallow.

The Catlike Kompact'O is pretty nice IMO. I like it better than the Whisper or Mixino.
You can take the visor off and put some little plastic inserts in the holes.
Not too heavy (my daughter's black M size is 238g without the visor) and not too pricey either.<

hardnutz.com

our team had them a year & previous to that we had rudy p/specialised/catlike

these are so much better . comfy, dont fall apart like the Rudy/catlike ones & you can take them apart for thorough washing

also the 3m panels are excellent
