I'm looking at possibly installing a Campagnolo 2015 groupset on a Scott CR1 SL which has a BB91 bottom bracket. I wanted to know what adapter I will need ?

Thanks

Campy make UT specific cups for that application http://www.wiggle.com/campagnolo-ultra-torque-intergrated-oversize-cup-set/

Better pic here http://glorycycles.com/campagnolo-ultra-torque-bottom-bracket-cups-bb86-86-5x41/

UT cranks are Chorus and up. If you are using PT then Campy make the cups for those too.

That image is now outdated. Campy make a lot more cups for differing BB "standards" now.

But the problem with the current Campagnolo Tech Info is that they do not list a BB91, ie. 86.5x41mm option, whereas the older Tech Info did.

They do, you've just linked the wrong page. Over-Torque is for the new 30mm cranksets.

BTW, does anyone know why Shimano list BB86 bottom brackets as BB91? Is the shell plus the cups 91mm?

Thanks for posting the current chart @585.

I can only think that in calling it a "BB91" Scott is for some strange reason using the MTB standard name as the name for their road version too. It just adds to all the confusion around BB standards. Or perhaps Shimano has a lock on the "BB86" name? IDK. A more cynical person might just think it's deliberate.

Anyway, on a road frame a BB91 is the same as a BB86. You will notice that 91 is 5mm more than 86, being the extra width of a MTB BB.

'BB91' comes from some of the actual bottom brackets themselves (not frame standards) having BB91 in the part number. It can apply to road or MTB - the '91' doesn't actually reference any size, it's a product hierarchy reference.

Yes I see that now. Still confusing to me why Shimano would invent a BB86 standard and then call the part BB91. Oh well.

91 probably references the outside width of the assembled bottom bracket cups. The shell is 86.5mm without cups. A Mtb frame with shimano press fit standard is either 89.5 or 92mm, not 91mm.

As I mentioned before, BB91 is taken from a Shimano part number eg: SM-BB91-41B. There are BB91's to suit both road and MTB.

Cheers Chaps, Shimano don't make it easy by calling it BB91 when most companies refer to it as BB86.

Bottom bracket standards, gotta love them!

And the Shimano Press Fit BB 'standard' is more bonkers than the rest because it's not actually a standard at all, in as much as Shimano only make the bottom brackets without giving indication of the size of BB shell that they should go in.
