Would anyone be able to comment on any difference - assuming red 22 shifters used in both cases? Is the front shifting on the force (22) still better than red (22) as it was for the older force and red front derailleurs (pre-2012) 10 speed?
How about durability experiences for the red 22 aluminum and steel front derailleur cage? I can't see how aluminum in this application is a good idea.
I am considering SRAM Red 22 for a new build and want the best performance. While cost isn't a concern, durability and breakdown avoidance is. I used to run a force steel derailleur with the pre-2011 red group to get better shifting and would do that again (if it's still possible and improves performance).

that wont help you *that* much but i have a 2013 sram force 22 front derailleur and it works well. the red version looked the same with minimal weight savings.
i use it almost daily for an hour since 2013, no wear so far. Setting it up takes a little bit of time as usual (these things are to the millimimeter) albeit once setup it doesnt move

I have a Force 22 FD on my TT bike and it is fabulous. I would save the cash and get Force. You'd only lose ~10 grams with Red.

I've got Force 22 on the cross bike and demo'd a bike with Red 22. Difference was indistinguishable to me and that's with Red shifters too.
