Hi guys,

I have Trek Emonda frame slr 10 and i would like to get Dura Ace brakes for it,but i been getting conflicting reports on what type of brakes to buy. One Trek mechanic said i need TWO dura ace 9010 front calipers for front and rear because the rear does not fit on the Emonda unless you put a front brake on the rear. Another Trek manager told me I need to buy Shimano Dura Ace BR 9010 RS specifically for rear. Is there such thing as two different brakes BR9010 and BR9010-RS ? Please help out if you own or know about putting dura ace on Emonda slr10
Thank you

BR-9010-RS/6810-RS/5810-RS is a rear brake. Cannot be used as a front brake.
BR-9010-F/6810-F/5810-F (front brake) and BR-9010-RS/6810-RS/5810-RS use different shoe holders and internal parts.

So you need a F and a RS, for your reference :

Hi, I have an SLR9 with Bony Speed stops and have been looking to swap out with DA9010 as I'm curious to see the difference. Finding the front (BR-9010-F) was easy, however finding the rear (BR-9010-RS) proved very difficult. Shimano are only releasing this to Madison today apparently.

I had the 9010 on a P1 Madone and they were fantastic.

So a friend of mine at Trek spoke to a head mechanic and he said they have used a front calliper on the rear no problem, obviously addressing the brake shoe orientation!

That got me thinking I removed my speed stops and compared them next to each other and they are identical!!!!

Interesting, anyone else tried this?

Is it just me or does it look like the brake pads are only going to half contact the rim in the top photo?

yes!! You can even see a mark the pads have left on the inner wheel black area!

Funny I also a googled a few pictures of the Canyon Aero which uses the direct mount BR-9010-F on both front and rear.

Hello,

I´m in the same situation. Just ordered an Emonda frame and want to use Dura Ace brakes. is it confirmed that I have to use two front brakes?

Thanks!

I'm actually in opposite direction.
can get 9010-RS second hand for cheap but can not get a 9010-F in the budget.
I wonder what would happen if i use 9010-RS in the front.

Hi guys, i am resurrecting this thread as i also need an answer.

From this review http://www.bikeradar.com/au/road/gear/c ... r-8-48958/ you can see in the picture where they show the REAR brake from behind, the writing is BR-9010F (picture 9/32). If it was BR9010RS the writing would extend past the SHIMANO (even though its super blurry you can still see).

So what is the final consensus on this?

9010F x 2 works?
9010F + 9010RS works?

Finally, what on earth is the difference between 9010R and 9010RS? They look very similar. There's also a chainstay mounted brake too :|

Cheers,

I have 2 x front brakes on my Emonda right here in front of me....

From the tech docs it looks the the RS version (for rear) just has slightly longer mounting bolts but I don't have any issues on the Emonda. If you can get both the F and the RS - go for it. Otherwise 2 x F is working fine for me.
