FYI- It has come to light that Schwalbe has secretly changed the out there Latex tube for Butyl tubes on there top end Tubulars. There goes 4 about watts...

Maybe they think it'll reduce punctures. I've had absolutely no luck with their tubulars or clinchers, in any price range.

^It'd be the other way around, no? Haven't had a puncture since switching to latex.

Of course, I'm sure I just angered the Gods

Haven't use their stuff since my Duranos started unravelling at the sidewall.

Then the rear didn't last 1500 miles.

I could be wrong but aren't Schwalbe tubs made by Challenge? It seems weird to ditch latex...

Schwable one tubeless tyres are good and no tube mean I have those 4 watts back.

Even though you have a much stiffer sidewall and clincher/rim interface?

I was disapointed to see that the One tubulars I got about 2 months ago came with a butyl tube. They are riding ok so far.

Because they want to sell into a triathlete market where in their one big event of the year the bike has to be put into a closed transition area the evening before race day? Which would be long enough for a latex tube to be losing significant pressure.

I think you give Schwalbe too much consideration... the more likely reason is to reduce cost. Butyl is cheaper and probably easier/faster for the supply chain to procure compared to latex.

Really?? Now I understand why my Schwalbe One tubulars are holding air so well. Before I had the Ultremos and I had to inflate them every time I used the bike. Having said that, I think I will keep buying tubulars with a Latex tube... 4 watts are 4 watts.
