I believe the 'list came into effect on Jan 1, 2011. Frames already in use at that time did not have to be approved. Only new frames introduced after this dates. So frames such as the Amira, Venge, Shiv, etc all pre-date the 'list' and thus do not need approval.

A new Shiv, Venge, etc would need approval.

Still no news/rumours about a new Venge coming later this season?

I'm going to guess it will be totally new and be offered with disc brakes. =P

I'm thinking Giro or TdF unveil.

Thanks for sharing possible timing. Seems like it's definitely time for an update, and I'm very excited to see how they'll change the Venge, given the (seemingly) big changes in how Specialized's testing capabilities and mindset towards aerodynamics have changed over the past few years. It'd be cool to see something closer to on par with Cervelo and Felt's best aerodynamically, with handling like a Tarmac!

LBS, who's also a quite large Specialized dealer, told me that a new Venge should be premiered at the Tour, and should be out in the shops short time after.

So I'd wager a guess we might see some spy photos of the Venge possibly before the TdF on a training ride.

Kreuziger rode on the SL5 proto at Liege last season, before it was unveiled at the Tour.

So maybe a prototype of the new Venge at the Giro or Dauphine/Tour de Suisse.

Any comments / information on this. Down tube / fork junction looks different as does the top tube / seat tube junction.

Head tube and fork look new. Seat post obviously is new. Also the cover behind the stem. Kinda looks like what a Specialized redesign of a Venge would look like. Looks like Di2 only frame version.

It bares some similarity to this:

If I recall this photo is from two years ago and they said this was a prototype that predated the Venge.

Hard to tell from just a side view, but it doesn't seem like a drastic change. Hard to see how this will get them up to the level of a Cervelo/Felt/Canyon. Unless they drastically changed some of the tube shapes? The head tube & fork interaction probably helps a bit. The seat post is a bit ugly, kinda like a mushroom looking fungus pooping out of the seat tube. Maybe increasing the dimensions of it saves some drag? Be interesting to see what data Mark Cote, Chris Yu and Co will provide regarding the seat post. Still not as big of a redesign as I would have hoped for from Specialized.

Not really. Look at the bottom of the head tube/fork interaction. Completely different bikes in that regard. Plus seat posts aren't the same.

The pink one can be attributed to Robert Egger and has no bearing on the new Venge as it was built in 2012 before the tunnel was built. As far as the second bike, not sure what it is but with SL2 graphics, it's likely not a prototype and probably just a looking sample.

What I do know is that the new one is going to be fast.
