Dia Compe BRS 500 questions

I have acquired a new set of these brakes. They are the hidden spring version of the old BRS brakes. Mavic also released a brake that was essentially the same thing called the 451. My question is, can you swap out the original brake pad holders for something more modern? I'd be using these on a time trial bike with carbon wheels so the original pads would not suffice. I understand that they are supposedly a pain in the butt to adjust. They're beautiful and I look forward to using them.

Plus they did fairly well in TriRig's aero brake test. At what I would call, "real world" yaw angles it tested well.
