Not WW topic but hoping there is some good advice out here.

I recently acquired a Garmin Virb action camera and want to rear mount it. Problem is, have an aero seatpost (Felt AR3 2011) and seat (Arione R3 braided) is fully forward, so no space for a K-Edge or Pro rail mount.

So, does anybody have any good under saddle mount options/hacks?

On a related subject, does anyone have a way to mount a camera under the "new" Tillquist Garmin mount that has a slot along it?

Thanks

you should be able to find a go-pro mount for aero post... along with what came with the VIRB to convert it for use with go pro mounts.

There are also seat rail mounted units as well.

So far I haven't found any aero specific seat post mounts. Don't suppose you have a link?

according to go pro the handlebar seatpost mount does not have to be round... but it does have it's limitations.

Problem with that mount is that it is very wide and might interfere with your inner thighs while pedaling. Find a buddy with a 3D printer and have him make you one. I made myself one and had Shapeways print it. Of course what I needed was round, here is a render

maybe seat rail is the way to go then... K-edge makes em.

Yeah I thought about asking a mate with a 3d printer. Had a quick look for a pattern but no instant gratification.

That electron r100 mount looks promising. Would require a long joint to clear the length of the virb body I think. And a leash - wouldn't be trusting a single jelly band.

spdntrxi, that eBay find looks promising, paired with a shorter version of this ...

I too would run a tether from the camera, probably to the seat rails, so even if the camera comes off it doesn't hang down at the tire or worse at spoke level.

Update, here are a couple of shots of my rear-shooting camera with a 3D printed GoPro mount.

you may be able to build/mod something from an extra seat post clamp that fits your post...just a thought.

You could likely make something out of a ICS blink light or saddle bag to mount to your saddle. Some epoxy, fiberglass, and/or carbon fiber should be doable...

I never even thought of using it that way. The spacing looks about right, so I think I'm going to give that a try myself. Thanks for the post!
