I have been looking for a light stem and found this on ebay. Has anyone tried it yet? is it worth it? anything better to recommend in the 40-50$ range that can be unbranded easily...

Had a 110mm of these on my last built. Can't fault it.

Only detail is: if you are a freak for details, you will realise its finish isn't the best in the world (ie. the clamp doesn't align with the stem perfectly etc).

Functionality wise, go for it. Can't beat it in the price for money side.

On my new built I spent three times the money on an alloy stem that weights a little more just to have something with a reliable name on it. GO figure.

I have one on my CX bike, along with the compact carbon handlebar. Great products and excellent price. I'd get more of them too in the future.

On that note, old built actually had Hylix stem, handlebar, seat post and saddle.

Can't fault it for the price.

From the spreadsheet of the old build:

Seat post got sawed to 300 getting to around 130g, don't recall the exact weight.

Value for money. Just don't ask about quality! ...but on that note, they never failed on me!

It only comes in sizes from 80-110mm, more suited to XC race bikes than modern road bikes

is there a similar stem that comes in at least 120 and 130mm sizes?

The Kalloy Uno "7" stem comes in 120 and 130 mm. It's about as light as the Hylix without bolts but costs a bit more on ebay, and doesn't come with Ti bolts. Graphics can be removed with acetone.

Don't stare you blind only on the 99 gr in the ad.
A good stem is more than the mentioned grams.

Besides that I bought items from pingthyy2010 in the past and never ever will.
There was something wrong with a handlebar I bought, he blamed customs for it but they had nothing to do with it.
When things are ok then its ok. But the guy is a real piece of shit when something is wrong with your item. Be warned.

I don't know about the stem, but I just got a Hylix seatpost and I'm pleasantly surprised with it. It weighed 147g uncut (400mm), and somewhere around 115 grams after I cut it. Not bad at all for the price. The fit/finish isn't amazing, as others have noted, but perfectly functional.

Stem works fine and the weight is good. Only thing is the Ti bolts strip easily - not enough recessed area for the hex to get a good grip on the bolt.

Not sure how much it matters but the full Carbon Hylix stem looks to be a few grams lighter .......
