That would work, although it is not really financially practical for a training wheelset.

American Classic also used to produce cassette clips to mitigate against this issue. They augment the existing splines of the cassette to prevent movement. Unfortunately they are no longer compatible with newer groupsets. - http://www.amclassic.com/download/manua ... ltegra.pdf

The best solution of course would be a Ti freehub which is both lightweight whilst also being hard enough to prevent the problem occurring. I've always been surprised that Powertap don't offer one. They undoubtedly outsource the freehub to an OEM supplier who could probably produce a Ti version without much of a premium.

You can do diy reinforcements.
Thin steel pieces trimmed to size work.
