Right before I sold my BMC, I ran a set of Wide 24mm rims with 25c tires. They plumped up to about 27mm on those rims and cleared the SLR01 with no issues. I wouldn't go running a 27-28c tire on wide rims, but you could easily run a 27c tire on a non wide rim. Due to 24-25mm wide rims plumping the tires up.

Having owned a 2014 SLR01, a 2014 TMR01, a 2014 TM01, as well as a Garneau Gennix, Tarmac SL4, Tarmac 2015 (SL5 i suppose), as well as nummerous other bikes. I can say that the BMC SLR01 is the best climbing bike I have ridden. Being a Cat 1 Racer I am experienced in crits, mountain top finishes, and so on. The bike lacked in its cornering abilities in crits because of the crazy stiff front end, but was amazing everywhere else. The best all around bike I have ridden is the SL4

I've got a '13 SLR01 and a '13 Dogma 65.1. Although I love the way the SLR01 handles, its just not solid feeling like the Dogma is. Especially in the bottom bracket area. I'm not a big strong guy, but I can feel and see the bottom bracket area twisting. The ride is superb, though. For normal riding it's great. For the crits that I bought it for, I want something stiffer.
