2014 XS Propel Advanced SL in the nearly all black edition.

Presently ride a 50 cm Super Six and I have some "unique" requirements such as a 130mm -17 stem with the saddle about 2.5 cm behind the BB for a reach from tip of saddle to center of bars 52.5mm (using 3T Ergosum bars 128 drop/89 reach). Available stack and reach numbers indicate that the XS will be 6mm shorter in reach and 6mm shorter in stack.

So I will be trying:

1. SRAM red 22 for the shifters, front and rear derailleurs, 165mm crankset and PC Red 22 chain.
2. 52/36 qrings to replace the red chainrings
3. 130mm Sworks CLP stem and 3T aeronova ltd bars because they have 10mm more reach and I think I'd like that.
4. Nokon housing or jagwire illink??? I am hoping to run this in front of the headtube and under the forkcrown??
5. Enve 65mm carbon clinchers with G3 Powertap hub (1608 grams total) for training.
6. I hope to find a better seatpost topper or severely modify the existing one (suggestions)??
7. Undecided on saddle
8. Speedplays with stainless shorter spindle but may splurge and go titanium?
9. Arundel trident bottle cages

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Why would to do ENVE to powertap as training wheels? I'd save some money and do powertap to Hed Belgiums or some similar alu rim for training and the ENVEs for Chris Kings for race.

Good point but I already have these wheels for training so I was just including them in my build. Thanks.

Chainrings: might struggle for a 26  a 36 might be a better idea

Stem: Don't giant use a 1 1/4 steerer tube? That would mean the S-works stem won't work.

Cables: I love my Jagwire ilinks, much crisper than stock cables

Saddle: start with what works for you and move from there

I agree with Raineman and run a Propel myself.

Stem: Giant and Ritchey, Pro too if you can find them.

Cables: the cables are mostly internal. I'd go for a Nokon or Jagwire/Shimano setup.

Saddle: start with what works for you and move from there (what raineman said)

Clamp: can be tuned with titanium hardware and probably shortened in your case.

Thanks very much for the input and yes I'll have a 36 inner ring on the crankset  . The Specialized CLP stem can work with a shim and I need it because of the 17/73 option which you can't find elsewhere though a call to Ritchey USA netted me a promise to receive one some time in the new year!!! The Specialized stem is heavy compared to others so if it is the case I don't need the drop netted with the -17 then I'll head to a Superlogic carbon or Syntace unless others come forward with a 1.25" option this year?

Nokon gets my vote as well though I am reading good things about the ilinks. Saddle I've decided will be the Shimano Pro Turnix with carbon rails and somewhere around 150 grams. The clamp/topper will be modded with titanium hardware and maybe shortened depending on how satisfied I am with the result of my modification efforts.

Cheers.

Well it is built up and weighs exactly 7 kg with garmin, bottle cages, 1700 gram "training wheels" etc. Build was as follows and where weights are quoted I have used a digital scale:

XS Giant Propel Advanced sl
Red 22 front (with chain catcher) and rear derailleur, and shifters all stock so (78 + 146 + 285 grams respectively)
Nokon where possible
Ritchey 130mm 17/73 4 axis stem (141 grams)
Fizik Antares 00 saddle (145 grams)
Continental 4000S tires
Vittoria latex tubes
Edge valve extenders
Enve 6.7 powertap G3 wheelset (24/20 DT aerolites spokes) (1701 grams)
3T aeronova 40cm carbon bars (207 grams)
Rotor 3D + 165mm cranks, PF 86 ceramic bearings (Rotor 4130), 52/36 aero chainring (722 grams)
Arundel trident carbon bottle cage (29 grams each) with alloy mount bolts
Stainless Speedplay pedals with shortest spindle (205 grams)
Zipp serva corsa cx tape
SRAM XG 1190 11-25 cassette
Red 22 chain

So now to go from 7000 grams to shaving at least 200 grams and plan to focus on ti bolt replacement, modifying the ridiculous 160 ISP topper....

If anyone has information on the ti bolts needed (e.g. specific sizes) I sure would appreciate it as well as a source for the replacement bits...

Cheers.

^ Looks very nice. I think finding the next 200 grams to shave is going to be expensive and not worth it. You are going to have to get a lot of different components or swap out the wheels. Just ride the piss out of it.

I train and race on my Zipps. Life is too short not to enjoy what you have.

Cool bike dude, with all that aero I'd be really happy with the weight, too.

I was worried at the description of the XS frame with long steep stem angles and pushed forward seat but that looks pretty bad ass.
