Why does my bike weigh more than it's supposed to?

One of the best WW posts I've read in a long while...elegantly sums up what we do and why we do it. It's not really the end weight that matters as much as the journey it took to get here. And I think most of us will agree our bike weights today are just a snapshot in time - it can always be lighter, and we'll always try to get it there.
