2015 CAAD10 Ultegra weight?
Moderator: robbosmans
I stumbled upon some claimed weights recently on the 2015 CAAD10's that put the Ultegra model at 16.8 lbs. stock, and I'm curious to hear if these numbers are legit or not. I have a 2012 model that I've been entertaining the idea of selling to buy a black-on-black 2015...not just for the potentially lighter weight per se, although it's an intriguing bonus.
The 2015 model loses a few grams with the Ultegra 6800 versus the 6700 on the 2012 bike, and drops a few more with the Hollowgram Si crankset versus the previous FSA SL-K. As I understand it, the all-black 2015 is also anodized, whereas the 2012 'BBQ' bike was paint. I have my doubts those three elements add up to about a pound, but I could be wrong in my assumptions. My bike, using just a decent bathroom scale, came in at roughly 17.8 lbs., so if the new bike is under 17 in stock form, that's not too shabby.
Anyone toyed with a '15 yet?

That s indeed not a bad weight for an alloy bike with Ultegra

My 2012 anodised CAAD10 frame was 1100g in a 52cm with RD hanger and BB cable guide. I believe the painted CAAD10 in same size comes out at around 1230g. My FSA SLK light compact crank was 650g and the Si cranks are listed at 530g so that's around a 250g saving. I don't think Ultegra 6800 saves much over 6700 overall when you exclude the crank, maybe 10 grams or something
What about the 2015 CAAD10 Black Inc Disc? The disc brakes should add some weight, about a pound, compared to the mechanical brakes.
I am a mountain biker, and I have never owned a road bike. Now I am looking for one (group rides, triathlon, etc.). Supersix EVO Ultegra/RED and/or CAAD10 Black Inc Disc/Ultegra are on my list.
Any thoughts on the 2015 CAAD10 Black Inc Disc?
I would also like to see more detail shots of this bike...

MartinR,
The Caad10 Black Inc. is showing a weight of 16.36 lbs in a size 56. The carbon wheels are where this bike really sheds the weight.
Caad10 is a fantastic machine that performs better than some companies carbon bikes. This forum seems to think very highly of them from previous posts I have read. For the part spec I do not think you can go wrong for the value per dollar, but that is my personal opinion.

racer1,
thanks for your prompt reply! Very decent weight indeed. I think it makes perfect sense to use carbon clinchers on disc-brake equipped bikes, especially on the high-end ones. Apart from the weight-saving, do they provide some degree of compliance/damping as well?
Czero carbon clinchers-are these designed by Cannondale or FSA? They are not tubeless ready yet.
I would also be interested in the availability of the CAAD10 Black Inc in general . Being from the same country as Peter Sagan, I do not see them readily available over here.

I'd be interested in what the disc option does for tire clearance....that was my main beef with the CAAD was that with a wide rim I could barely wedge 25mm tires on them. If this would open up the option of running a 28mm I would be sold on going back for my 3rd CAAD.

Would also like to know more about the tire clearance of the disc equipped models.
Interestingly, the chainstay length for models with/without disc brakes is identical (405/408mm), yet Shimano recommends a minimum chainstay length of 415mm with disc brakes, in order to avoid any chainline issues. Wonder how Cannondale compensated and if there are any resulting issues for the owner?
