Can't wait to get one of these with Extralite MC rings and red extrabolts bolts. Lower weight and better aesthetics... win win!

I'm working on making three new spiders for Weight Weenie members. Here's some photos of the progress.

Just find this topic now. Amazing work! As a mechanical engineer and user of solid works and ANSYS sometimes I just want to have some cnc machine near!

Keep updating photos please!

Now I just need to anodize them. I do have the design and programming done for a 130mm spider, so I may make that first so that I can anodize them all together:

I've machined the 130mm spider:

I pulled out some old 53/39 chainrings to make sure they fit, and pulled the cranks off my bike to check the fit for the 130mm spider onto the crank:

Fits perfectly!

Now I have four spiders ready, sent off to get anodized.

They've been sent to anodizing and I expect to get them back Thursday or Friday.
The 130mm spider turned out very well. I changed the manufacturing process to make it a little more efficient, and changed the fixturing to get more consistent dimensions.
Now I'm tempted to put a 130mm on my bike because I think it will look really good! Too bad I have so many hills around here...
