Hi there,

I bought this vintage bicycle recently and i am wondering if it's an original Pinarello from the 80ties. Thanks for responding. Greets

I may be wrong but i'm pretty certain that isn't actually a Pinarello...

And the way the paint has been sprayed over the rust around the bottom bracket area, not a Pinarello, and i'd say the frame is toast. I wouldn't be riding it until you stripped that area back to bare metal to see how much damage there is, but it looks bad. Get your money back if you can.

Is it just a reflection or did they not even bother to take the crankset off when they repainted the BB/chainstay bridge to cover the rust?

99% not a Pinarello.
I would not ride that either...

Whoa!
Chainstays at the junction with bb look just dangerous to ride with all that poor repainting job.
Didn't you get a chance to check the frame out when purchasing?
Sorry to say, but I think it's money wasted :(

It is a bit basic in it's lugging, but the T shape in the lug at the seat tube, top tube junction makes me think it is a pina.

I also think that WW isn't really the place to ask this. Although the members have a wealth of info to share with everybody we focus on high tech and light weight.

Looks like a T but it is not. Even the low-end Pinarello frames were well made. This is not the case.

Nope.
Long live the horizontal top tube, standard crankset, and Italian threaded bottom bracket.

Definitely not (I own a 1984 Pinarello that I bought new). All of them had pantographed semi-sloping fork crowns with rounded edges and pantographing of the seat stay caps (which are longer and more tapered than the ones on that bike). Also, the joints were always filed at the dropouts to make a smooth transition. I have never seen one with sloppy brazing like that.

Yep, it sure looks fake to me. I'm no expert, but all steel Pinarellos I've seen had an embossing somewhere, either on the fork crown, the top of the seat stay, and/or on the bottom bracket

It's probably better to ask on the Classic and Vintage section of Bike Forums
