I know there is not going to be a lot of choice, but are there any nice light options on 8 speed chains ?

got a SRAM PC850 on an old bike running downtube shifters. I've also read its possible I could run a 9 speed chain.

KMC 8 speed SL chain is about as good as it gets. 8 speed chains are never going to be light. Even 9 speed chains are not that light.

Run a 9-spd. It will be quieter and shift better.

Okay, thanks. I can see a KMC 9 speed SL chains for sale, but not an 8 speed version. Hopefully 9 speed will work okay.

I was going to suggest the KMC X9SL or whatever it is. Should work fine.
