E-store selling Road Wheels in Germany has the best prices?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
I will be visiting Leipzig Germany next month and want to buy light and good deal road clincher wheelset or at least rear wheel for my budget when I'm there. Since I'll be limited by time in my visit, knowing an online shop in advance will save my time while giving all the ideas about my options.
It is already looking pricey with the Euro currency and general Germany prices, so I need your advices.
Why not importing from abroad? Both Germany and the country I live in have high import taxes, so I better buy it while I'm there and bring the wheels in my bag with me on my return.
Thanks.

Hi, whenever I look for something I tend to find good at prices at http://www.cycle-basar.de/, https://www.bike-components.de/, and http://www.cycle-aix.de/
http://www.bike24.com/ also seems popular, but I am not sure if they have the best prices generally.
Also, this rather small shop often has some very good prices on select items: http://www.hergarden.de/rennrad-teile/gruppen
And sometimes it is cheaper to buy from Wiggle or other shops in the UK. (No import tax, one advantage of Germany and the UK both being in the EU).
In addition to having a look at the mentioned stores, I usually try to find the best prices by having a look at google.de's "shopping" search feature: https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#q=shi ... f&tbm=shop
It is important that you start this search by going to google.de, not google.com or other local google sites, as only the .de variant has the German shops.
Also, since you are going to Leipzig, and should you care about Storck bicycles, they have a pretty store very close to Leipzig main station: http://www.store-leipzig.de/

You know, our forum sponsor Starbike does not mind the business from WW's... They are very professional, have a good selection and offer competitive prices. WW usually get a discount.
Bike is in Leipzig and our budget is around 150-200 euros I think, so we can not afford the gems.
But getting the lightest for the buck would be nice.

Stole hit the nail on the head. thanks for that. Weight weenies, please check out our site host and help them host the site
If you want to see 'meh' content of me and my bike you can follow my life in pictures here!'Tape was made to wrap your GF's gifts, NOT hold a freakin tire on.'
IMO beside hosting this site STARBIKE is the company to deal with just because a bunch of other brands and sellers can be freely discussed on this forum. They get my credit for this.

Hi,
I'm a newbie and I just wanted to mention that I too just used starbike to buy 2015 Bora One's at a very reasonable price. In fact a stand out price. I will certainly be checking them when they arrive to make sure they are the new 24.5 mm wide one's as the price was so good it looked like an error. So starbike have to be a consideration. Also postage was ridiculously cheap and they seem to have a very good reputation. Certainly my fingers are crossed. Ordered March 10th, should be here in Sydney soon.
