Hey guys, I'm trying to find a lighter alternative for my headset upper bearings and was wondering if you had any suggestions.
The headset is an FSA No.62, and I was able to find the "SL" version of the lower bearing (1.5") from ProBikeKit, but no luck with the upper yet.
An "SL" version of the 1-1/4" bearing apparently does exist but I've not seen it anywhere, hence my search for other alternatives.
Anyways here is the spec for the upper bearing:
TH-970 MR082
1-1/4" ACB 45x45
46.8mm x 34.0mm x 7mm,
weight = 27g
I know its a long shot but thought I'd ask anyways.

Would any of these fit?

hey thprice, thanks for the suggestions. I've looked at these before and unfortunately none of them will fit.
A bummer as my fork is actually 1-1/8, but the integrated sleeve where the upper bearing sits is for 1-1/4. An Upper Race sits inside this bearing which reduces the diameter to 1-1/8 to accommodate the fork. Anyone looking at getting an Argon 18 may want to keep this in mind just in case.

Have you looked into the Cane Creek AER? It's the lightest top bearing around... it's actually not a bearing. Not sure if it will fit, and I've read mixed reviews about it, but it could be an option.

thanks drainyoo, that looks very interesting. the AER-IS looks be the closest fit but still 1.2mm off the sleeve.. also not sure how I feel about getting a new bearing every 2-3k miles. Thanks again for the suggestion.

I did but couldn't find the SL version for the 1-1/4. The 1-1/8 and 1.5 both have the SL versions tho.
