Tour magazine has a special, super-tech, super-expensive scale which adds 50 grams to all non-German frames. But the investment pays off in increased ad revenue.
Anyway, I'll cut the customs on that plot some slack, especially Corratec who says "from 680 grams...". They can build for stiffness and size. Trek, Focus, and Cannondale are a combination of spec'ing a smaller frame and picking light frames from a lot, perhaps: they're all about the same amount over. Simplon is a mystery: under claimed? That's weird... maybe even suspicious.

Not strictly on topic, but I thought this photo from eurobike was pretty cool
