In November, 2013 Boardman launched their 2014 Elite AiR series but I haven't heard much since. Myself, I'm looking at buying the Air 9.8 frameset but concerned about how the integrated brakes perform.

The only article I've found are mainly just weights here:

Also there's a single user review at http://www.roadbikereview.com/ but it doesn't mention the brakes.

Anyone have experience with these bikes, in particular the Elite Air 9.8?

I don't have any long term riding experience with the brakes, but our shop sells a lot of Elite Air and AirTT's and we haven't had any reported problems. Lack of a front brake QR is a bit annoying for wheel changes and they are more fiddly to set up than standard brakes but they seem to work well. Definitely better than Giant's first gen Propel brakes, for example.

Figured you'd be a great one to ask: is it feasible to get the cabling as neat as the stock photo here?

All the real world pictures show the typical headset bird's nest with the front brake cable taking the fastest known way from point a to b.

edit: no longer leaching the image

Looks to me like they either haven't cabled the brakes or they've photoshopped them out.

The rear cable routing is very neat, right alongside the front mech cable but the front brake cable will be hanging out on its own.

Looks like it's the latter. Here's the original image:

Still pretty neat but a shady practice.
