Does anyone happen to know the actual weight of this wheelset? I've seen them listed at different weights at retailers all over the web, although 1,488g seems to be the most recurring number. However, many forum discussions have mentioned them being "heavy" and suggesting they're somewhere north of 1,600. I hate to drop that kind of coin and the wheels be heavier than originally thought.

Dont know about the C35, but my 9000 C50 Clinchers weighed in at 1830 grams including original rim tape (not skewers).
Thats 160 grams heavier than the 1670 grams they are claimed to weigh. Im not loving that..

I don't have a weight for a rear wheel but the front that I put on the scale came in at 690g. This is for the clincher with rim tape installed, sans skewer.

Thanks for that information. I think that would seem to indicate the 1,488 isn't too far off. The sites with that number list 662/826 on them.

Be careful of production variability. I had asked a bike shop to weigh a set of C50 clincher for me. It came in at 1,765 with rim tape but sans skewers. Another reader here has his at 1,830. If I were you I would buy it once you know the exact weight. Or perhaps cherry pick the lightest set :D

Interested in finding out the weights of the complete C35.

My rear weighs 846 with rim tape. So 690+846 = 1536

It makes sense. The spokes are thicker than Cx-rays and the hub bodies are not the lightest.

Anyone willing to cut the rim out of a set and weight the rims?

Still not too shabby for 35mm clinchers that are partially alloy. I'm looking to upgrade from a set of supremely-awful Mavic Aksiums, so I'm expecting a pretty night-and-day difference in performance. But I'm looking at Merlin Cycles in the UK to buy them, so there won't be any cherry-picking for the lightest set, unfortunately.

^^^^exact same thing with a set of c50's i bought last year!!! I wouldn't be surprised if the c35s are closer to 1600 than 1450, it doesn't seem as though shimano wheels are normally distributed and centered around their claimed mean weight :smartass:

I weighed a set at 692+862=1554g with tape. Skewers were 61+65=126g.

I didn't realize there's that much aluminum in the C24/C35 until I saw this photo. The C35 looks to be much less aero than the C50. And why didn't Shimano adopt the wide rim in the C35?

To save weight. wider aero profile means more material

C35 about 200g less than the C50 though it weighs more on a gram per mm of depth ratio - 42.5g/mm vs. 33.4 g/mm for the c50.

Would expect that the next C35 will be wider and adopt same carbon fairing approach as c50 though uncertain whether that would be for 2015 or 2016. Current C35 introduced in 2013 along with all new DA line of components.

Watch for any announcements at Eurobike this week or Interbike in September.
