OK chaps, I am new to this forum but like the look of what I see :-)

I am a long term Cannondale fan and have been lucky enough to get my hands on an amazing EVO. She weighs around 7.2kg at the moment and my first goal is to get her below 7kg without:

a) spending loads of cash;
b) making her impractical as a racing bike

She is completely standard with the exception of the Quarq, Syncros wheels and Look Keo carbon pedals.

In your expert opinion, what should I look to upgrade to reach this first milestone? (I know the first thing I need to do is cut the steerer tube down...)

Thanks!

If I had that bike I would be scouring ebay for a hollowgram power meter. Other than that, I would look at swapping seatpost, saddle, stem and bars.

Well there's a bit of weight to be saved in the seatpost, maybe 50g or so.

Ok, one way to drop weight is to lose the Ultegra chain and cassette. There has been a lot said about the DA9000 cassette, but I think the redesigned cassettes cure the issues of the first generation, and it looks to me like most, if not all, vendors have cleared out their remaining first-gen cassettes, and only stock the newer stuff.

Thought it would be lighter than 7.2. What weight are the wheels?

Saddle is a boat anchor, you can save over 100g by going for a lighter version of the arione or changing to an other saddle.

DA cassettes are crazy money though, aren't they?

The wheels are listed as 669g front and 801g rear = 1470g

Thanks for the suggestions everyone...this is good stuff

They're a lot more than the Ultegra cassette.

It's tough to play the weight weenie game if you care about money.

Weight costs money. How light do you want to go?

You need to add listed and verified weights to the build list.

Weight does seem high considering the frame and groupset....

Other items to consider - inner tubes (could be approaching 100g each) and fork bung. Is it the new Cannondale lightweight model?
