I got a good deal on the beautifully machined XG-1090, 12-27T. I really like this cog combination as it gives me the middle 16T usually missing from 10-speed cassettes and I almost never notice the missing 11T.

It is however sold as a 'cyclocross' cassette, and does not have the Stealth Rings the other XG-1090 models have, to easier shed mud and debris for cyclocross riders.

I did notice that it's quite a bit louder than my previous PG-1070, especially 50 / 21-19-16-15, so having the stealth rings would be useful I hope.

If no one knows, I'll order the Stealth Ring replacement set for 11-28 and see if it works to quiet down the chatter.

won't fit-the grooves between the cogs are not deep enough. I sometimes use a 12-27 off my CX bike for hilly rides, never had an issue with noise. Be sure the B gap is wide enough (this does a lot to eliminate noise).

Thanks for that information - saved me the cost and time... The noise got reduced a bit after re-adjusting cable tension. I had been to eager to get out and ride with the new cassette. I will try adjusting the B gap as well, but did not notice much difference initially. The noise is quite different under load than 'on the bench' so I'll have to experiment a bit.
