Largest production road frame?
Moderator: robbosmans
I have a very tall friend who is just getting into cycling. By very tall I mean 210cm (6'11").
He bought an 3XL Canyon which was the biggest I could find , but it's too small:
Top tube: 616mm
Head tube: 230mm
Seat tube: 645mm
Before we start scoping out custom options, does anyone know of any bigger production road frames?
Here's his (too small) bike next to mine. For reference, I'm 178cm with a 73cm saddle height.

This looks like the very tall guy bike of choice: http://khsbicycles.com/bikes/2014-khs-m ... te-747-14/
Looks longer but not really taller though...

Checked my database (>5000 road frame sizes)
Gunnar 68cm size is ~25-40mm higher stack in various models. Unfortunately I'm not convinced that skinny steel is the best option for big bikes.
Apart from that all the other options are only different from the Canyon by inconsequential amounts

Cyclenutz, what database do you use? Is it available to the public?
At 5'8" (170cm) I have nothing to bring to this thread.
Thanks!

Miyata made a 27 inch (68.5cm) frame in the 1980s, Reynolds 531 I think. I know that doesn't help much, but there could be one out there somewhere. Bill Walton, former 6'11" NBA player, is an avid cyclist - look up his bikes for ideas? I recall one of them was done by a guy who also did Masi frames. I don't know where you're located but Leonard Zinn (Boulder, CO) focuses on tall-guy issues. Colnago still lists 65cm in the Master but it's not really any bigger than the Canyon.

My own, I'm somewhat OC (I don't see why the 'D' is needed).
Not yet, soon.

At 210cm, your friend would be considered an outlier as cyclists go.
Don't waste time with stock stuff.
The Canyon fit looks acceptable until a custom frame can be built for him - but he really needs to remove the pie plate...

With that required sizes I would stop looking for normal production frames.
When you want a custom frame for a reasonable price you can look to companies like www.ti-bike.com
They just build what you ask, means you need to look yourself thoroughly to the required geometry.

Conor Dunne of Ireland / An Post-Sean Kelly team had a Vitus frame made up for him which i believe was going to run in the 2015 of available sizes. I'm not 100% sure on his size, but he's certainly a big 'un....
I'm not sure Vitus would be on my list of desired frames either but if it comes down to what's available in a certain sizes...

That is massive!
Not sure the Grande is in production any longer. It does not show up on the site. Might be an easy and affordable special order though.
