Hi all! Bob Davis, Hapless Newb here. Building up a RANS Fusion crank forward bike. Shooting for 11.7kg on initial build; next winter I'll do the wheels to try and hit 10kg. 'bents and CF's may have to weigh more than traditional geometries, but we can be gram shavers too! :)

Maker will be my local 'bent shop (Angle Lake Cyclery in Seattle, WA) he's got the tools and expertise; I just got back into cycling this year.
Component Make Model Grams Notes
Frame Rans Fusion ST aluminum 2000 Lime Green frame
Fork Rans Fusion aluminum
Headset maker's choice
Top Tube Rans or tbd
Handlebar Rans or tbd
Seat Rans Fusion Carbon Fiber
Cables maker's choice
Wheels maker's choice will upgrade in Jan (these become spares)
Tires maker's choice prefer 28mm to 1.25in tire width

Bob's ideas for upgrade components:
Component Make Model Grams Notes
Brakes Avid Shorty Ultimate 230
Levers Avid Speed Dial SL 150 Avid FR-5 or similar ok if Speed Dial SL unavailable
Front derailler none
Rear derailler SRAM XX1 220
Crank Lightning XX1 Horizon 160mm 450 with SRAM XX1 28T chainring, ceramic bearings
BB maker's choice
Cluster SRAM XG-1199 260 10-42T with 28T front = 17-73 gear inches
Chain KMC X11SL DLC/Green 282 weight = conventional chain x 1.2 due to CF longer chain length
Pedals Loaded AMX Signature V2 (green) 266
Fenders SKS Raceblade XL Set 307

estimated weight (grams) 11700 including pedals & fenders

A big thank you to the folks who have built up so much info and discussion here. Comments/advice welcome of course: you've already been a lot of help!

Cheers,
bob
